26TH / 27TH January
Calder Park
Well the rain and thunderstorms held off and the first ever Vic Supercruz has been run and won and from the feedback everyone had a ball. I know we sure did!
Saturday morning saw a string of entrants queuing out the front at 5.30am in the morning itching to get in and get out on the track to have some serious fun. Just on 236 entrants, all with quality cars, ripped up the Calder Park track in the multiple events on offer. Supercruz, Super Straight Line Burnout, Dyno Comp, Doughnut Sprint, Family Cruz, Burnout Comp and the 2 Drag racing formats.
Melbourne had forecast rain and thunderstorms all weekend however it seemed to have hit everywhere except Calder. Saturday was too hot with track temperatures being over 45 degrees and Sunday was also extremely hot.
It just shows that Melbourne has been waiting for an event like this for a long time as there were a lot of awesome tough cars that have not been seen before. We can’t even start to name them as they were ALL great. We were even blown away. All entrants were comfortable with our criteria as everyone had a lot of fun in a safe environment and most important respected each others cars.
As Calder has not seen an event like this, there was a couple of teething problems in communication on Saturday but most of them were rectified by Sunday. John and myself have sat down and had a debrief and along with entrant feedback we will ensure that the next event runs like clockwork. We can’t wait as we feel that this is the start of something BIG and the next event is going to be massive. BRING IT ON!
STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS OF THE NEXT ENENT.
